Enjoying the Margaret River region's olives, jams, jellies and fudges is a part of any South-West holiday experience, but a trip down to London Court now provides the same opportunity thanks to the enterprise of Edith.
Called Proost, Edith's shop is a one-stop mouth-watering experience. Every weekday at lunchtime, Edith encourages passers-by to stop and taste the pickles, mustards or other produce, mostly from the Margaret River region, displayed outside the door. And very often it is far too hard not to go inside and buy.
Edith is a former petroleum engineer who decided on a career change last year and opened Proost in December. 'I went from oil to olive oil,' she said.
As well as individual items, Edith also sells hampers and corporate gift boxes. 'Proost means cheers in Dutch', said Edith, who is originally from Holland. With the City of Perth Month coming up in March, Edith is set to increase the free tastings on offer. 'I'll have rows of mustards, jams, jellies and other foods set up around the shop for everyone to come and try,' she said.
