Common eSIM problems and how to fix them fast
Most eSIM issues have a fast, simple fix
Before assuming something's broken, work through these โ they resolve the vast majority of connection issues in under a minute.
Problem: no data at all after landing
Almost always data roaming being switched off. iPhone: Settings โ Cellular โ tap your travel eSIM โ turn on Data Roaming. Android: Settings โ Connections โ Mobile Networks โ Data Roaming โ enable for the travel eSIM.
Problem: connected but painfully slow
Check which line is set as your Cellular Data line. iPhone: Settings โ Cellular โ Cellular Data โ confirm your travel eSIM is selected, not your home SIM. A common mistake is having data roaming on for the wrong line.
Problem: eSIM shows "No Service"
Toggle Airplane Mode on for 10 seconds, then off. This forces the phone to reconnect to available local networks. If that doesn't work, try manually selecting a network: Settings โ Cellular โ Network Selection โ turn off Automatic โ pick a network manually.
Problem: eSIM won't install at all
Double check you have wifi or existing data when scanning the QR code โ installing an eSIM profile requires an internet connection the first time. Also confirm your phone isn't already at its eSIM limit (most phones support multiple eSIMs but can only have a limited number active or installed at once).
Problem: it worked yesterday, not today
A simple restart often resolves this โ it clears connection states that toggling settings alone doesn't always fix.
